Hi,

I'm just trying to track down a copy of the pay rates for public podiatrists. I've seen a copy before that lays out the award based on what grade and what year of that grade a pod is in but I can't track one down online.

I'm heading for a "next year" chat in a private practice and I'm just trying to get a better feel for what I should be asking for so this could be somewhat of a compass.

Where are you based? How many years of experience do you have? and for private practice most important is how much money did you bring into the practice?

This is the end of my first year. I don't know exactly how much I'm bringing in but suffice it to say I'm a busy boy. Me and a college of the same experience simply wanted to know the current public rates as a guide to not getting taken advantage of. I'm not looking to make large demands or anything like that.

As a woman, I am very interested in pay rates and transarency, I get flamed at Uni for saying women get paid less than guys, so I will make d*** sure I know what I bring in. I am worth 50% of that. Dental Hygienists get that. (by rumour, another great female profession, gets that % too)
The costs of running a practice are great, rent and insurance and electricity, wages of the support staff, do you have your own PL or is it practice PL? Do you have your own tools? Some practices have a separate deal on Orthoses. (you can ask what the rent of the property is, and get an insurance quote over the phone....Transperancy!!)
There was a job on the Uni website for a podiatrist in Victoria on $80,000 pa. So, $!,600pw. or $40 per hour. So you would be expected to bring in more than $80 per hour.

Last time I worked for wages, as a dental nurse, I got $11.50 per hour, Cert III, 20 years experience....mmmmm remind me again why I am so upset I couldn't get into Dental Hygiene, and am now doing podiatry.....mmmm
