    Hi all,

I'm considering a career change into podiatry following on from many twists and turns in my career (all science related), a desire to be working directly with people again and a lot of experience tending to the feet of my diabetic mum.

I have been trying to find out the best places to consider studying as a mature student (currently 34) - considering Plymouth due to current location.

Would be grateful of any advice/experiences.

Also trying to determine funding before applying so might not be until next year. Is there any age limit on application (as there is with medicine)?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

As far as I am aware there is no age limit with studying podiatry as we have lots of mature students in our course, some over 50.There is no fees as its funded by the NHS.
    Good luck

    tarbarrell,
As far as I know there is no upper age limit on a Pod Degree course.
Good luck with your studies, I'm sure you'll find the course interesting. Once qualified there will be a lot of doors opened to you.

hi i've just been offered a place at Salford for Podiatry, i'm 33 but the admissions tutor told me at interview that she accepts applicants up to the age of 60 and the majority of students are mature students.

Yeah we have a 50 something year old on my course and she does really well in exams and summative assesments.

Thanks for all your replies, it's just a case of working out funding for personal commitments (rent, transport etc) but am looking into the bursaries etc.

Reassuring to know age is not a concern for going back into education.

  7. i didn't come to fold until my late 30's. was 42 when i graduated. out of a class of 55 to start with only 26 graduated. the majority were Mature students and of them a number of us were into our 40's.
Don't ever think you are to old. it is more do you think you can hack it and with more life experience than the young ones you already have a good head start.
best career move i ever made. go for it
