    Hi,

Has anyone sponsored a pod on a 457 visa? Any do's and don't's, general advise or things you wish you'd known before hand.

    Cheers
    Esher

Because after months and months of advertising, no luck. Getting desperate now. Hopefully, when the new grads come out later in the year, someone will be interested in moving to a regional area. I'm from the uk and that's how I ended up living in the manning valley.

Whilst I think I live in the most beautiful area of aus, there is not much excitement to offer the younger pods, it can be lonely for those on their own. For families, I can offer work for a pod, but there is very little work around for the non pod. My husband and I were very lucky when we emigrated, as initially there was work for him too, but unfortunately, that industry folded in the area, most of the guys he worked with have all moved out the area with their families.

This is quite a common tread for those of us living outside the cities or large towns.

    Cheers Esher

Its a beautiful area, I wouldn't swap it lol but would be nice to spend a bit more time seeing it.

    Here's an idea for you.
Run a fishing competition on the Manning river, open to all final year Podiatry students, put up a $500 prize and get them up there to see how great the area is.
    Cheap marketing at $500?

Hey, this isn't just an issue in Aus We have the same problems in NZ....absolutely fab place to live, incredible scenery and great Pod opportunities but applicants can be thin on the ground. Where is the sense of adventure gone that we had when we took the leap eh?
