    Hey Sam,

Uploaded this vid to the Golf Biomechanics thread back in July

Haven't seen you on here for ages - hope you haven't been working too hard!

While we are on the subject of golf, I've been thinking about organising an online Podiatry Arena tournament via World Golf Tour. I know a few arena members love a bit of golf as much as I do - we could play 18 on St Andrews against each other from the comfort of our sofas (and it has an in built chat system for trash talk/banter as well).

Let me now if anyone fancies it and I'll get it sorted

I fancy it. However, it would have to be at 2-3 o'clock in the morning when my family are in bed and my wife thinks I am working. Podiatry Arena is bad enough but online golf with the people from PA is a lynching affair!

Cool - let me know your user name and I'll add you as a friend - easier to arrange games that way.

    Anyone else fancy it?

It would appear that this thread may mean the ruination of my marriage. Logged into the game and played 2 holes. Literally having to tear myself away to write this!

I can't I'm afraid - I'm head of childcare today and we've already been sledging and written Father Christmas some wish lists so I need to get some lunch on for them.

    Maybe later tonight?

I tend to sacrifice sleep Del, had a game with Sam at 1.30am this morning, while he was having his breakfast in Singapore.

Hope you and your family have a great one mate, and we'll get some proper time on a proper course in 2011.

My Mrs has been a legend for the last 2 days, but she has her suspicions I may be milking it now...

    Hi Kevin

There is a saying in golf " it's not how far its how many that counts" :empathy:

There is no point in hitting a ball with an inconsistant swing another 30 yards that finishes in the tree's and puts you out of the hole ( is there ian :D).

The difference between Paidrig and me IS consistancy, thats why I can never hold it together over 2 rounds leave alone 4 which they play in every competition

These guys are sooooo consistant thats why they hit a 1000 balls EVERY day to keep that consistancy.

Running at a ball.....NAH sorry cant be done "consistantly".

    Nice post though:drinks

    Cheers

  27. I was playing golf with my own set of clubs at the age of 14. However, I never really got very good at the game and found it was very time consuming, relatively frustrating and expensive in my younger years. So I do know a bit about the game and have some very good friends who are scratch golfers...they are so far beyond me it isn't funny.

Currently, however, I simply don't have the time or interest to play. Maybe when I'm older and more crippled, I will have the right attitude for golf.;)

    The perfect golf swing?

Easy - the perfect golf swing is one made by any individual but me. If it happens miles and miles away from where I'm located at the time that's even more perfect.

I don't think velocity, lower body dynamics or any of the other stuff is necessary.

And I really don't like those commercially-avaialble custom orthoses which have a little Golf sticker on the top. They fool no-one.

For a professional golfer ,could something as simple as a change in sock brand lead to dip in form . For example if a golfer switches to a brand of sock with a lower coefficient of friction , when used with a given shoe , then an unpredictable variable is introduced . Given the long kinetic chain involved in the golf swing even a small additional movement between the sock clad foot and the shoe could lead to a more chaotic performance .
Does anyone know of any professional golfer playing with shoes but without socks ?
