I mentioned this to George Flanagan here:
    http://www.podiatry-arena.com/podiatry-forum/showpost.php?p=242066&postcount=11

In the USA there have been conferences designed for podiatric surgeons to enhance their knowledge of foot and lower limb biomechanics and moreover on the biomechanical effects of surgical procedures such that they may use this enhanced knowledge to better improve the long-term functional outcomes of their foot surgery.

George was fairly positive regarding this and I just wondered if other UK based podiatric surgeons felt the need for such a meeting here in the UK?

This would be an excellent idea Simon. I've never really seen surgery and biomechanics as anything other than two sides of the same coin really.

Not sure if this opinion is shared by others or not. However...

The likelihood is that once our practice becomes preocccupied with one apect or the other, then our focus tends to shift to accomodate that.

I think it's very healthy to recognise when that balance needs re-addressing. I'd certainly be keen to attend any conference with a healthy programme of debate.

    Kind Regards

    Greg

Having checked with the 2012 Society Conference Chair Ralph Graham he informs me that this has been been discussed at previous conferences but it is alsways worth revsiting. If any form member would like to offer a lecture or seminar to the programme panel please let me know.
