Hi All,

If we have chiropodists defined as, "diagnoses and treats disorders, diseases and deformities of the feet." [HPC].
And someone practices a part of it, (But not the Whole?)?,
1. A large part of the definition.
2. A small part of the definition.
3. A NHS. declassified part of the definition.
Is that person committing an offence post July 2005?
For instance if a person cuts someones toe nails are they infringing on the definition of CHIROPODIST - HPC. or NHS.?
Who has the final say on what is chiropody and what is not chiropody?
This should apply whether it be a VOLUNTEER or a FHP!
QUESTIONS,
1. Are we pre-empting HPC. who I believe are the people able to bring this to law for decision?
2. To advertise chiropody without a chiropodist present? HPC. have already given guidance of intent on this I believe mentioned somewhere on the Arena's posts above, and their intention to prosecute possibly???
3. If the NHS. declassify nail cutting from a medical treatment to a social treatment, Is this the thin end of the wedge?
Treatments may start to be declassified such as,
1. Nail cutting, (Has it already been declassified, anybody?).
2. Corn treatment.
3. Callus removal.
Will the HPC. let them do this?
Or have the NHS. Management concerned with the feet come to the conclusion that none of these minor treatments fit into the definition,
"Chiropodist diagnoses and treats disorders, diseases and deformities of the feet."
Where does nail cutting, corn and callus removal actually fit into the HPC. definition?
Do you consider I am over simplifying this problem if that is what it is?
1. Or has the NHS. actually already opened the flood gates and returned the state of CHIROPODY back to pre - July 2005 times by abolishing nail cutting as a medical treatment!
2. Or can the NHS. make out a case for all that follows, for example,
Anyone can treat,
1). By nail cutting,
2). Cut corns.
3). Cut callus!
Without being a Chiropodist!
3. Or could it be that I am over simplifying everything and you people out there can set my mind at rest, otherwise I've just wasted £260.
Regards,
Colin.
