Sorry if this thread has already been made, I was wondering what I need to undertake if i wanted to work out in Australia being from England i am currently completing my standard 3 year Podiatry degree. I just wanted to know is there anything further i need to do before practising out in Australia? Is there a scholarship or can i continue working/learning down under :)?
    Thankyou
    Hannah

You need to get your skills assessed, you can get this link from the apodc website (australiasian podiatry council). If you can get sponsered its also makes life a lot easier.

Thankyou. Do you know how likely people are to get sponsored? Is it as tough as getting to university? I have checked out the Australian Podiatry and there is a definately a demand. Hannahx ps is there still a man?!

I relocated to Australia with relative ease. It just takes a lot of patience !!! Good Luck!

Hi Hannah I emigrated to Aus in Nov 2007. Here are some tips!
Once qualified apply to APODC for skills assessment, do what they require its easy!
Do not bother to seak sponsorship! Apply under skilled independent visa, this gives you the flexibility to travel, work anywhere in AUS! sponsership means generally being tied to employer even if they are shonky (Aus speak for crap). Be prepared to part with lots of money to pay APODC, Aus goverment (visa), State registration boards. $363 current in victoria and no refunds if you move on. If you move interstate you will have to re register at your own cost. Beware shonky employers offering you the earth, contracts are for the full term or they will sue you! Consider New Zealand or Canada! Best of luck to you whatever.

Come on a working holiday, if you are under 30. Once here, if you like it, you can apply for residency. If you come to Sydney, stay with me, mature student of Podiatry! Carole
