Hello all,

Am a new graduate and now the money has run out I think I will have to start doing doms as I appear to be getting nowhere trying to find any work in private clinics and definately nothing in the NHS near me remotely!

Have had some offers of mentoring which is great but still need to earn some money and don't want to start looking for other work outside Podiatry as probably will never get back to it. !

Have had an offer of a morning, but it is a bit of a distance and am not sure whether it is worth my while. Is 40% a normal rate for private clinic.? I will have to supply my own equipment but they have receptionist and autoclave and room ready to go.

Starting to feel a bit down about the situation.....Also with the care quality commission standards how hard would it be for a newbie like me to get going should I decide to go it alone?

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated...

 

Hi, I am in exactly same situation and wondering if it is worth opening the practice. The practice where i will be using a room have asked me to find out whether i will be able to work on my own or not because i am a bloke and he's scared whether i get accused for sexuall offence as there will be nobody in the building apart from me or patient.....i don't know what to do.

I am sure that would be ok, I have met plenty of men working on their own or with other men and they have been going for years..and I suppose yes you may get the odd person just as we as single women may get the odd man! It works both ways really.

I have really had to push myself forward with regards to work and think I may now have some private work in clinic (run by 2 men!). The best think I did was to walk in to the clinic and introduce myself. It definately pays to make the effort and they can see that you are keen to work.
