Just watched part of the free DVD on biomechanical assessment which came with the British Journal. This is produced by interpod and features Craig Payne.

Some nice things in there for those new to the subject, but for me the best bits are when Craig has to talk about some of the more contentious aspects and make it sound like he believes what he his saying to be true. Who's he trying to kid, he doesn't even believe it himself? The look on your face is priceless Craig!!!!!!!!! ;) :D :D
Made my day.

THANKS for the feedback - I have not even watched it!
BUT, hopefully its a good resource for those wanting to learn which is why it was produced by Interpod.
The feedback has been positive.Last edited: Jun 11, 2007 -
I think you did very well to read off the idiot boards and keep a straight face;) Only joking Craig, as I said, very useful for those who have not been exposed. Having done a couple of TV shows myself I can appreciate what you went through and how the editors hand can shape what went on. Although, I have to say the make-up artist did a fabulous job :p Interesting that the very same month your DVD came out free with the Journal at least another two labs are offering free DVD's upon request. Seems to be the latest trend here.
Anyone for a podcast? Seriously... Anyone for a regular podcast? It's the way forward, y'all know it is. That includes you Kirby.
For the record: Craig, what is your relationship with interpod? And how did they get to sponsor the biomech evaluation sheets you use at LaTrobe? -
The whole thing was done 'off the cuff' with no preparation.
Interested to see what the other labs are offering. Educational or marketing hype? I have seen one here from another prefab company and it was full of stuff we stopped teaching the students 10-15yrs ago. -

Now you guys got me interested in Craig's DVD. Can someone send me a copy of this DVD of Craig since the last time I saw Craig lecturing was in Ghent, Belgium, where he was showing some type of new US-centric map of the world. ;) -
You mean this pic:
-
Yeah, Craig, that's the one (gave me a dose of the colly wobbles just thinking about that map) ;) . The problem is you left out from your map your own land of the Kiwis.....you need to add the home of the All Blacks to your map one of these days! Tis a truly beautiful country...great trout fishing....and we had great fun black water rafting and bungee jumping the last time we visited.
-
Kevin:
my thoughts were similar until i scrolled down and read your posts...thanks for thinking of the small country down under...
regards,
An ex pat Kiwi (and go those All Blacks in the tri-nations and the World Cup) -

Dear All
I received the dvd of Mr. Payne in Greece, as i practice there as a podiatrist together with the journal of the society.Although I am exposed to biomechanics i think it is an excellent piece of work and a very useful tool for me when i will start teaching biomechanics in greece. :) We dont even have podiatry as a profession here, but i am an optimist and i believe that we will have it in a few years. So.. by then i will propably contact you and ask you or even beg you :) if i have to Mr Payne to give me the authority to use your dvd. -
oh...P.s. for the Americans: Greece is a country with great history in the south-east part of Europe
-
Thanks for the positive feedback..... maybe I should go and watch it and see what I said ;) -
Hi
I requested my copy trough Interpod's European distributor:
http://www.algeos.com/html/products/interpoddvd.htm
you can also see 2 clips here:
http://www.algeos.com/videos/Interpod_part1_NEW.wmv
http://www.algeos.com/videos/Interpod_part2_NEW.wmv
I should say that this DVD was a good help for me by giving me a better "picture" on foot mechanics (congrats Graig), trough the fitting process in my opinion is far too simplified in the video.Last edited: Jun 13, 2007 -
I started making a world map of my own entitled "Post World War 2 if the US Never Existed". I didn't complete it because I could not decide if every country would be painted red or have little German symbols.
Nick -
It is always interesting to speculate on how our present situations would be changed if certain historical events never happened. I also find visiting other countries to be very enlightening as to how people from other lands view the United States. While visiting the D-Day memorial in Caen, France, a few months back, one exhibit we walked through gave a very interesting French view of the US versus Russia post World War II build-up that occurred and how it affected the world. These events have given me a renewed appreciation of how great my country is, but have also given me a renewed respect for how much our country's actions, good or bad, are felt throughout the world, especially by much smaller, less powerful countries.
By the way, I got a good chuckle out of Craig's map while at the Belgian seminar. It would be interesting, however, to know how a World War II USA Isolationist Policy Map, covered with swastikas, hammers and sickles and rising suns, would be viewed by the people of the world also.Last edited: Jun 14, 2007 -
Or perhaps by now communism would have mellowed and we would have all been living in a socialist Utopia!
The unfortunate thing about the War on terror is that if it IS fulfilling its objectives, we'll never know! For all we know had we not invaded Iraq London would by now be glowing in the dark, population 24, and producing 3 headed mutant rats! Or not. We will never know.
Funny old world

By the way, Robert, has the DVD cured your insomnia yet?
(Sorry, Craig, couldn't pass that one up. :D )Last edited: Jun 15, 2007 -
And i'm afraid not. Every time i find an answer i find 20 things which now don't make sense / things i thought i understood which i now don't. Besides Craig's DVD is an edge of the seat roller coaster of a film.
Actually i found it quite informative but i'm waiting for the Biomechanics DVD directed by quentin tarentino!

Natural Born Pronaters (They are out there in a neibourhood near you)
True Varus ( Craig Payne searches the underbelly of the seedy foot world in search of the ellusive f/foot varus)
Kill Kevin (PIN) Vol 1 (19-31) 1998 (The story of everything there is to know about Podo Biomechanics in several cunningly juxtopositioned Vingettes of podiatric life in the late pre millenium 20th century showing a post modernistic view of Neoclassical biomechanism. A must see :( )
Resevior Pods (Where Kevin Miller [Mr Green] is tied to a chair and despite having his ears cut off still won't reveal the true identity of Bio-Tensegrity an under cover mechanical system infiltrating the vicious biomechanics gang.)
Desparado (Desperate for fame, Podiatrists name anything after themselves. One of them is a shady Lurker from the old country who hopes Spooners ZOOS will propell him into the starlight, things don't go as planned however.)
Disparados (A miscellaneous bunch of podiatrists find themselves drawn into the seedy world of internet forums. With no life to speak of these sorry individuals troll the murky depths of biomechanics and foot fetishism into the midnight hours. Can anyone save their miserable souls.)
Kill Kevin (PIN) Vol 2 (22-49) 2004 (Oh wait! there's more  )
LOL ;)
All the best DaveLast edited: Jun 16, 2007 -
dave,
I can add to your list of Tarentino films:
Inglorious bastards: a film in which podiatrists who've never published anything, or been asked to speak anywhere that counts are given a chance to redeem themselves by putting their money where their mouths are. ;) -
Regarding WWII and Australia, the USA had to sacrifice many young men to keep a platform available to launch their counter-attack; thank goodness for logistics. -
Simon
LOL Dave
OH BTW did you see Pulp Friction ( Where some small town heel gets rubbed up the wrong way when he suspects Jimmy the Nail split on him despite them being in bed together for some time) -
Dave
Genius. Still laughing!
:D
Robert -
Dave,
Have you seen Killshot: An average podiatrist and his predictable counterpart are placed in the Federal Witness Protection program after witnessing an "incident". Thinking they are at last safe, they are targeted by an experienced hit man and a psychopathic young upstart killer. The ensuing struggle will test the podiatrists to the limit. -
Apparently he is ideal for the role of Axial Folly.

You tell me...my senario is that the US never existed. We would be faced with a different "super-power" so to speak. Who would it be, and on what principles would it be based on- Hitler's, Mao's, Stalin's, an Ayatollah's, Craig's DVD (just trying to stay on topic with the thread here)???
Nick -
You see the idea of an "AXIS OF EVIL" as quoted by George W is an oversimplification. It is better represented by a bundle of Axis's. As the Politics of America change the Axial position shifts. America may have a Planterflexory (pushing down) effect on a nation While it lies on one side of axis then the axis shifts and America starts to exert a Dorsiflexory (pulling up) effect on the same nation.
Next week we shall examine the concept of Military / Social / foreign budgetary divisions in the context of planal dominance.
:D

Robert
