I think my chances of winning the Powerball lottery are better than someone on PA forking over $4000 for an orthotic report!

Regardless, You probably have a good handle on it, Craig.

Remember all those barefoot runners who predicted the bottom would fall out of the foot orthotic market. I guess they got that wrong as well.

    Aloha,

    That number is too low.

    USD 3,678.0 million ??

Everyone needs to be treated special when it comes to their feet, everyone.

Orthotics are way we do that.

Shoe companies do not want to admit their shoes need orthotics.

Perhaps that is why their global market is worth over $200,000,000,000

How do you write out USD 3,678.0 million?

Perhaps the orthotic should come first, build the shoe to fit the orthotic and not the way it has been going where we sacrifice and dumb down the orthotic for the shoe.

What comes first the foot or the shoe?

    Mahalo,
    Steve

    Good Earth Science Question:
7 billion good folks on this lovely planet
5 pairs of shoes are bought and disposed of each year by each passenger
1 cubic liter is used for each pair of shoes in landfill space for a long long time ago

It has been know that the Borg enjoy assimilating discarded human foam footwear as much as Juicy Fruit and it last longer and has that special flavor.

What would be the length of one side of their spaceship if we agreed that they could assimilate our footwear waste instead of us each year?

FYI- They cruse the galaxy in cubed ships.

    Bonus
For the first student in podiatry school to post the correct answer (yes, you must show your work and all the zeroooos) i will buy you a copy of Kevin Kirby's latest book.

If you would perfer a copy of Dr. Niggs book "Biomechanics of Sports Shoes" we can accommodate your request.

Sorry i cannot buy you this $4000 orthotic market report though...

    Aloha,

While we wait for the answer to the Good Earth Borg question from our podiatry students, who will someday recommend the shoes of the future, let us look at this volume in a different way.

Say the petroleum companies figured out how to really recycle all this blown foam shoe waste and they send the world largest super tanker to pick up our curbside donations.

How many trips would the super tanker need to take to pick up all of our garbage bound shoes?

    Let's show the work,
35 billion cubic liters converts to 35 million cubic meters.
The largest cargo ship can hold 677,000 cubic meters and it could float on top of this foam cargo.
    http://www.vesseltracking.net/pierre-guillaumat/

    35,000,000,000/677,000= 51.7

    Answer 52 times.

    Follow up Question,
Say we dig up all our past foam footwear that is currently in our landfills and washed up on our beaches since "Big Foam" starting using it in our shoes since 1965.
How many more trips would the super tanker need to take?

    Follow up follow up question,
Say the super tanker capsizes in rough seas and spills all its cargo.
How long would that take us to clean up? or would we?
Or would our solution to pollution be dilution??

    Peace,
    Steve
