It looks like they didn't poke the needle into the lesion enough times with the normal saline group. ;) So it's not just needling the wart. It's creating an immune response that "sees" the wart virus. Perhaps the next study will compare Falknor's needling technique with injection of MMR vaccine.

It is interesting the number of warts going away at distant sites.

Eric, do you happen to know if this modality is FDA approved?
I would anticipate, also, there might be push back from patients with the backlash of MMR / autism link. Soccer mom brings little Johnny and 'foot doctor wants to inject MMR' ...

I don't know if it FDA approved. I was just comparing the MMR treatment, done in that study, to a treatment that some of us already do, needling repeated times without injecting anything. It really makes a nice, neat story for the treatment of warts. Your immune system does not "see" the wart. You do something to help the immune system "see" the wart and then the wart you needled and the wart that you did not needle go away, because the immune system has been stimulated to attack the wart. It makes you wonder how many other things you could inject into a wart to make it go away. A nice question for future research.

    Thanks Eric,

I would agree the needling can likely provide the therapeutic effect. Folkner's needling was my go-to, for persistent cases, but I now find that two applications of Cantharidin usually takes care of it.
People have looked at injections of Sodium Bicarbonate and found a useful response. There are probably other mediums that have been tried out. Almost doesn't seem to matter what is injected and there is some benefit. Likely the result of implantation of viral particulate stimulating an immune response. I will probably avoid MMR vaccine for now, lol
