podiatrist from new jersey - USA with successful practice x 7 years. I only treat medicare patients and I am concerned about the future of medicare or the unknown of national health care. The ama is on the fence with the proposed national healthcare and it may certainly benefit them, but we are not part of the ama and have always and will always stand alone as a profession. A profession of few numbers and little power in washington. If any one has any insight into the future of medicare reimbursements for general podiatry and/or our role in the proposed national health care it would be much appreciated.
    thank you

Hi Lynchdpm. Welcome to the Arena. You may find that posting your query in the USA specific forum may get more responses as not everybody will notice it here in the intros section. Good luck!

The scary thing about the new "Healthcare Plan" is the lack of details-
Obama has a speech tonight, in primetime, but I doubt specific questions will be addressed.

It appears to me that adding layers of government bureaucracy will be a disaster. I suggest you start diversifying your patient population- try to reach privately-insured and cash patients-
