Podiatry assisstants and bio-mech clinics

I presently work for an nhs trust in essex and have been asked to look in to wether or not employing a foot care assisstant in our bio-mech clinics would be of much benefit to our service. Does anybody have any info or personal experience as to how an assisstant would work/benefit a bio-mech clinic in the nhs? Any info will be greatly recieved.

 

As a Podiatry assistant who worked in our NIHS biomechanics lab making orthotics for two years, I can say they would be of enormous benefit!

The Podiatrist did the assessment and scan then passed me the prescription. I manufactured the orthotics whilst the patient waited.

Upon completion, I brought the patient in, fitted the orthotics and advised on their use.

All within half an hour!

Unfortunately this service came to an end with the loss of some personnel so I had to return to feet duties!
