    Hi travelling soles

Welcome to the arena. Would you care to tell us a little more about your role in the foot health industry? Where are you based ?

  3. Hi cornmerchant....love the name BTW...hehehe. I don't mind sharing some info about me at all, thx for asking. I am based in Prince Edward Island in a little city called Summerside. For those familiar with P.E.I. I am about a 45 minute drive from the capital of our fare isle, Charlottetown.
I have been a nurse for 23 years but have not practised for about 10 years. One of my pet peeves in nursing was with my colleges who just refused to touch feet. It was a part of the anatomy they just seemed to forget about or just choose to ignore. So to make a long story short I decided I wanted to specialize in feet to a certain degree that is so took quite a few advanced courses in Toronto Ontario in 2004 and 2005. Four courses later....and broke I might add.....lol..... and specilizing in diabetic footcare and wound management, a business course as I had no clue how to open my own business I became a footcare nurse and footcare specialist. What I now do is basic foot care, diabetic foot care, removal of ingrowns with topical freezing, removal of plantar warts, wound management of diabetic ulcers and am also a certified reflexologist, pedicurist and manicurist. I decided since I am into feet may as well go all the way. Not bragging here when I say this but my services are in high demand here in Summerside as there is no one else doing what I do. Don't get me wrong there is a foot care clinic here but they have one nurse doing basic foot care and she does about 20 clients, 1/2 an hour each and that's it. I am one on one and it can take a good hour with some of my clients depending what they are presenting with. Phew !!!!! I guess I said more then planned. :
I have been coming here to read many of the posts for quite awhile now and have to say I have learned so much and continue to learn so thx a bunch for being here. travelingsoles:
