On TFS, the thread in which the SMAE were being critisized has been deleted. IMO there was nothing libellous or offensive, just factual! or questions being asked!

Disgruntled,
I think we all know that it is not defamatory to ask questions of, criticize or make a fair comment about any organisation that touts its wares in the public arena. Any organisation that screams "foul" at any hint of scrutiny should be viewed with suspicion in my opinion.
Now let's see if there is any pressure to pull this burgeoning thread .........
Curious Catfoot -
I think pressure is unlikely. I doubt there will be many on here who give a scuttering **** if a thread on TFS got pulled. Hands up who couldn't care less.
Its all a bit dull really.:morning: -

"Freedom of Speech" is generally a political right to criticize governments without risk of persecution.
TFS and Podiatry Arena are private and not government organizations. -
Freedom of speech
Right to communicate one's opinions and ideas"Free speech" redirects here. For the Eddie Harris album, see Free Speech (album). For other uses, see Freedom of speech (disambiguation) and Freedom of expression (disambiguation).Freedom of speech is a principle that supports the freedom of an individual or a community to articulate their opinions and ideas without fear of retaliation, censorship, or legal sanction. The right to freedom of expression has been recognised as a human right in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and international human rights law by the United Nations. Many countries have constitutional law that protects free speech. Terms like free speech, freedom of speech, and freedom of expression are used interchangeably in political discourse. However, in a legal sense, the freedom of expression includes any activity of seeking, receiving, and imparting information or ideas, regardless of the medium used.
Article 19 of the UDHR states that "everyone shall have the right to hold opinions without interference" and "everyone shall have the right to freedom of expression; this right shall include freedom to seek, receive, and impart information and ideas of all kinds, regardless of frontiers, either orally, in writing or in print, in the form of art, or through any other media of his choice". The version of Article 19 in the ICCPR later amends this by stating that the exercise of these rights carries "special duties and responsibilities" and may "therefore be subject to certain restrictions" when necessary "[f]or respect of the rights or reputation of others" or "[f]or the protection of national security or of public order (ordre public), or of public health or morals".[2]
Freedom of speech and expression, therefore, may not be recognized as being absolute, and common limitations or boundaries to freedom of speech relate to libel, slander, obscenity, pornography, sedition, incitement, fighting words, hate speech, classified information, copyright violation, trade secrets, food labeling, non-disclosure agreements, the right to privacy, dignity, the right to be forgotten, public security, blasphemy and perjury. Justifications for such include the harm principle, proposed by John Stuart Mill in On Liberty, which suggests that "the only purpose for which power can be rightfully exercised over any member of a civilized community, against his will, is to prevent harm to others".[3]
The idea of the "offense principle" is also used to justify speech limitations, describing the restriction on forms of expression deemed offensive to society, considering factors such as extent, duration, motives of the speaker, and ease with which it could be avoided.[3] With the evolution of the digital age, application of freedom of speech becomes more controversial as new means of communication and restrictions arise, for example, the Golden Shield Project, an initiative by Chinese government's Ministry of Public Security that filters potentially unfavourable data from foreign countries.
The Human Rights Measurement Initiative[4] measures the right to opinion and expression for countries around the world, using a survey of in-country human rights experts.[5]

ROFL!!!

And what that has to do with a discussion over smae, I really don't know. -
DP, dont you think you should be asking your question back at the cesspit as that is the only place that your issue can be addressed ?
I think the possibility of "Nemesis" being unleashed again by the smae could have a bearing especially as CF has pointed out in the not too distant future you and those like you can be identified.
Personally I dont go there but having heard ALL the sniping over many many years I dont think there is anything new to hear on that subject.
Cheers

You have chosen the wrong forum to explore your concerns.
Pod arena is a world wide forum which has little knowledge or interest in the UK situation.
Both the USA and Ausi have closed professions where arguably all practitioners have higher educational qualifications which stop 'other' people trading their trades as corn cutters.
Any attempt to explain the UK situation will be shut down by the 'clique' and the site owner so best to walk away.
If you are really interested follow the Kirby close down debate. -

I am interested also in what is the "Kirby close down debate". What do I want to close down? -
-
Well folks
the Kirby close down list?
Did I get it wrong but was there not a movement to stop various posters from posting on this site initiated by professor Kirby?
Joe -
You made the comment you were thinking of "leaving the Arena" ?
(Si, You were p****d off with the whole thing coz of Denis so stuff it ??)
They will now seize on that and bring all their buddies in to try and close Pod A with spurious winde up posts as they did with Podiatry Solutions ( I'm suprised you dont remember that Rob ) which closed that site:wacko: and make everybody lose interest as is happening.
It's started now mate, up to you to sort the wheat from the chaff in posts.
Good luck :empathy:
Cheers

Si my friend are you a joker?
What exactly is your problem with me, or for that fact other people you feel unable to dictate too?
How quickly the Tamworth cartel rise to a critical challenge is remarkable.
I love this site, I learn lots.
Joe.
Not HPC registered, what is the HPC? -
I didn't want to "close anything down". I just wanted to be able to block the postings from certain posters appearing on my computer screen so I wouldn't be bothered by their continuous ignorant and self-servicing comments. They could continue to contribute to Podiatry Arena, but just didn't want to be notified of their postings or see their postings.
Joe, if you were to have an academic website expressly designed for medical professionals, would you allow anyone to say anything on your website, or do you think you would want to moderate that website? Or are you of the opinion that anyone should be allowed to say anything they want, even on an academic website expressly designed for medical professionals? -
Enough said, Del. This one is just a troll with no knowledge of the profession nor situation. -
Threads are closed because they have run their course and start to go over old ground. The closing of a thread is NOT an invitation to start a new thread to continue to litigate the same old issues over again.
