    Hi,
Everything I have read on this topic suggests that surgery will be necessary.
Does anyone have any other suggestions or is this the best solution?
    Thanks
    Simone

Depends on how old the patient is. With young children it may be possible to treat this problem using a series of silicone splints to correct the toe position.

    Overlapping 5th toe

Having been born with this condition 50 years ago, i was one of the first to have the staightening operation. I had surgery at age 11 to try to correct it. I now have a small flap of skin were my left little toe was and no bone. The right foot was more successful but has again overlapped the 4th digit. I was much better with what i had before!

  5. I am orthopaedic surgeon, sixtythree years old and I am a native digitus superductus V as was my mother and my grandmother. I never planned
surgery, because the little toe is so mobile to move everywhere to decrease pressure. Its a good idea to weer soft shoes.

    beware of eager surgeons
