Quick question, apart from Australia, North America and UK, which other countries provide education for podiatric surgery?

In Spain, obtained post graduate university course of surgery to podiatrists at several universities.
Official Master: University of Barcelona and Universidad Europea de Madrid.
Graduate podiatric surgery: Universidad de Sevilla, U. Complutense de Madrid
Graduate in minimally invasive surgery: AEMIS

Can you tell me what is involved in the pod surgery training, I presume mix of theoretical and practical training? typical program length, typical scope of practice when completed, access to prescription medicines?

Denotes be you are very misinformed.
University courses are theoretical and practical, with practice a corpse as it should be a preparation with minimal learning curve, too justified in other areas.
Following graduation, is monitored closely between monitors and alumni, to guide and supervise the procedures from simple to complex.
This second part is not required, it peri common in our professional group, lasting several years.
This happens in the universities where I teach.
Indeed, as in all countries, it is impossible to stop who is believed to know enough and do not wish to make adequate progress.
on prescribing drugs, we can use legally requiring our patients without limitation.
You are misinformed about the Spanish situation, but you must abide by the laws of his country, where practiced Podiatry.

Thanks for the above information. Is Podiatric Surgical training in Spain offered only by the Universities, or does the AECP (Asociacion Espanola de Cirugia Podologica) also offer full surgical training?
Also are any of these surgical training programs at the Universities offered in English? I would like to consider Spain as a possibilty to do my surgical training in, but unfortunately I don't speak Spanish!
Is the typical training length approximately 2 years like in the UK?

Whilst i'm sure your aware. Podiatric Surgery training isn't just 2 years in the UK.
3 years MSc Theory of Podiatric Surgery
3 years surgical pupillage, whilst completing Part C, D to gain FCPodS
2/3 years SpR in Podiatric Surgery

After this (plus passing relevant exams) you can apply for a consultant post, which is the only time you can practice independently.

So more like 8/9 years training after your undergrad degree.

I was referring to the actual 'basic training' (Parts C & D) which is 2-3 years to gain fellowship. This by no way means you are an expert and hence the need for 'more practice' before being able to apply for a Consultancy. However according to a surgical friend, this is only applicable to the NHS route and you are free to set up independently i.e. privately, upon completion of the fellowship - or am I misinformed?
