salary banding in uk

    I have recently started working in a private practice in central London. Im not sure if I am being paid the correct salary. They said salary is based on NHS banding. Im not sure what band I am...... I have been qualified for 5 years. If anyone knows how the bands are worked out, and what band that would make me and what the salary is for each band that would be a super help. I have also been employed as the 'senior podiatrist' at this practice with 3 podiatrists working under me how does this influence my salary? Im just trying to work out what i should be getting paid. Any links to pay structure would also help. Thanks :)

    The NHS payscales can be found here

    Most newly qualified pods go in at Band 5, progressing to Band 6 with experience (and job opportunity). It would depend on the Trust, but I think most Band 6 posts would need about 3 years experience or so in the person spec? It sounds like your job is at this level to me. Some pods are on Band 7 if in Specialist/Lead positions with Managers on 8a-c/d dependant on the Trust.

    Currently I have 13 years experience and a band 5. :( When we discussed the banding with the managers, they said experience had nothing to do with it really, its more the 'type' of patient you see.
    Our band 6s are generally 'specialists', that see ulcer patients and footscan patients. (I know this isnt pc!). Our band 7s generally have a clinical lead and the 8s are the big chiefs.
